Challenge

Following a decade of research into women's health and performance during arduous military training, the British Army needed to transform an extensive body of scientific evidence into a concise, practical guide.

The publication needed to retain scientific accuracy while presenting the research in a format that could be easily referenced before, during and after training by servicewomen and those supporting them.

Working alongside the British Army and subject matter experts, we transformed an extensive body of scientific research into a concise, 87-page digital guide. Through copywriting, editorial development and graphic design, we translated complex evidence into a clear, intuitive publication that balanced scientific accuracy with practical application.

Impact

Supporting servicewomen across the UK Armed Forces
The guide provides evidence-based guidance for servicewomen preparing for arduous military training, alongside commanders, physical training instructors and healthcare professionals who support them. It also helps address the historic gender data gap in military performance research by translating evidence into practical guidance.

✔ Endorsed at ministerial level
The guide features a foreword from Calvin Bailey MBE MP, Minister for Veterans and People, who described it as "a first for UK Defence", recognising its role in providing tailored, evidence-based support for servicewomen preparing for arduous training.
